Chemical Producers Welcome Alberta Oil Sands Plan

Canadian Chemical Producers are pleased to see the clear linkage of the Oil Sands Plan to the Alberta Government’s energy strategy released in December. The document, “Responsible Actions”, like the earlier energy strategies, is all about setting goals for triple bottom line sustainable, responsible and measured growth.

“This plan seeks to benefit Albertans by growing our oil sands commodity production to a diverse state of higher-value manufactured products. It seeks to proactively address social, economic and environmental issues and opportunities in oil sands development,” said Richard Paton, CCPA President.

“Our members will look to share and employ our Responsible Care ethic and its sustainability principles throughout the value chain in maximizing long-term value for all Albertans through economic growth, stability and resource optimization in the balanced development of the oil sands,” added Paton.

CCPA represents leading companies engaged in the business of chemistry, converting energy, minerals and organic materials into value-added products for Canadians. In Alberta our members are the province’s largest manufacturing sector adding value to Alberta’s energy and also the leading exporter of manufactured products. CCPA members seek to achieve resources optimization through value-added resource upgrading and chemical manufacturing.
